"Football meets Culture" Tournament 2015
On the 4th of June the football ground in Gelsenkirchen turned into the location for the "Football meets Culture" tournament 2015. 400 children from the LitCam projects in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Nuremberg, Neuötting, Würzburg, Mainz, Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen came together to play against each other in two age groups. Fairplay and getting to know each other were just as important as the football results itselfs.
The event was supported by the Ruhr Games, the Regionalverband Ruhr and our nationwide cooperation partner, the Bundesliga-Stiftung. Sylvia Löhrmann, Minister for Schools and Further Education of North Rhine-Wesphalia was the patron of the tournament and presented the cups to the winning teams.
The "Football meets Culture" programme offers football training in combination with additional classes and cultural activities to disadventaged children between 8 and 12 years. The tournament is the final event of each programme year and a highlight for every participating child.
