LitCam Conferences

One of LitCam’s major aims is the networking and promotion of international exchange. Consequently, the Literacy Campaign is internationally oriented and facilitates cross-border dialogue about new trends and strategies in imparting knowledge.
The LitCam conferences are at the core of LitCam’s networking activities. An International LitCam Conference takes place just before the start of the Frankfurt Book Fair.

On the 10 and 11 of Ockonferenz_mikrotober 2011 the sixth International LitCam Conference will take place focusing on “Literacy and Sustainable Economic Growth”. Cooperation partner is the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. The Nigerian environmentalist and alternative Nobel Prize winner Nnimmo Bassey is the keynote speaker. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former president of Iceland and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, will give a welcoming address. For the first time we start the discussion already before the conference. In a survey the opinions of experts on the topic will be collected and send to the media as a LitCam Communique.

The first LitCam conference in India will take place at the India International Centre in New Delhi on the 26th of August 2011.
The media and publishing industry plays an important role for education in India. How can the media increase its support of the learning process? And what is the role of publishers in promoting basic education? These questions will be treated in keynotes, best practice presentations and a panel discussion.
